Required Physical Intake Screening
The first step is to schedule a required intake assessment.
Service Description
Before participating in Parkinson's Families of Northwest Kansas programs, you must first schedule and complete a quick physical intake screening assessment with Brenda Mazanec at the Movement Connection. To schedule your appointment, you can call her directly at 785-443-4010. During the intake process, you'll receive orientation and a tour of The Movement Connection, where fitness classes and Coffee & Conversation peer mentoring take place. You'll complete some Movement Connection paperwork, Parkinson's Families questionnaires and do few exercises that will help us determine your current physical abilities. Before you take part in classes, we need to determine your individual physical baseline to make sure we don't push your body too hard, too fast. The physical analysis will consist of a range of tasks, including: - Walk 500 feet on pavement using assistive devices - Ability to do 15 minutes of cardio - Walk backward without assistance - Ability to get on/off cardio equipment and operate stop button Parkinson's Families is thrilled to offer classes to you at no cost thanks to a grant award from Parkinson's Foundation.
